Popular Saying: Success knows no bounds.

As a result of this session, participants will:

  • Reflect on their learning and accomplishments.
  • Be recognized for their commitment and participation in the Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors program.
  • Be honored as leaders in their families, schools, and communities, working towards and achieving their goals and dreams for their children.

Background

Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors is honored to have the opportunity to support parents in their role as their children’s first teacher and to strengthen their leadership capacity at home and in the community. Through its ten sessions, Abriendo Puertas/Opening Doors is an ally for parents, helping them to achieve their most inspirational goals and dreams, while equipping them with the latest research on the first five years of life, and setting their children on a pathway toward college and a brighter future.

By graduation, participants have gained new knowledge, learned about important resources in their community, and acquired important tools to support their children and families. Having had the opportunity to share their personal wisdom and experiences with one another, and establish a supportive parent community, they will have discovered that they already possess a wealth of strengths and abilities.

Participants have also opened their minds to new information they can put into practice towards well-informed, collective actions that promote social change. Each participant strengthened their capacity to effectively advocate on behalf of their children, their families, and their community. Serving before, as role models, they will teach their children to be future leaders and change makers themselves.
