Be a PARTNER Organization

If you are a family-serving organization or school, adopt AP/OD as your own! The culturally-relevant program for parents with children ages 0-5, based in popular education, is proven to lead to school success. AP/OD uses a two-generation approach and was co-created by parents to build parent leadership, skills, and knowledge to promote family well-being. It is most often taught in English and in Spanish – and is one of the only programs that teaches early math in Spanish.

Acquire the evidence-based curriculum with master training for Facilitators, technical support, materials and learning aids, and ongoing partnership with AP/OD National – a cost-effective acquisition with a high return on investment. Many partners deliver AP/OD locally for years, documenting and leveraging its impact to increase resources for ongoing work.

Send staff, practitioners, and parent leaders to AP/OD Institutes to be certified to deliver the program locally. You gain Facilitators with solid skills in popular education – valuable professional development useful across many activities in a diverse, family-serving organization. Facilitators are trained to deliver AP/OD’s 10 interactive sessions.

Adapt, innovate, and apply what works best for the AP/OD program in your community. The curriculum reflects the culture and realities of diverse families and incorporates data about local schools and services. It works best when connected to local opportunities, advocacy efforts, and resources.

Join the AP/OD national network of partners that honor and invest in the leadership of parents, build around their existing strengths, and see them lead the way to positive outcomes for their young children. Partners report long-term family engagement as a result of the AP/OD program as parents find an “organizational home” and extended opportunities for community leadership.

TAKE THE NEXT STEP:  Contact AP/OD National to learn how your organization or school can participate in a three-day AP/OD Institute to acquire the program for ongoing use, leverage and grow it within your own context, and join an active national network dedicated to building parent leaders. If you already have the program, but want training in the most recent modules (early math, positive technology, Kindergarten transition, the impact tool, and more), AP/OD offers a two-day Institute.

Paulo Freire originated the popular education approach. He was a Brazilian educator and philosopher most known for his influential work around the praxis of reflection and action for oppressed people to develop a critical consciousness of their struggle and liberation.
